Privacy Policy
This policy explains what UpharSetu collects, why, and the choices you have — across upharsetu.com and the UpharSetu Android and iOS apps. Last updated 29 August 2026.
Information we collect
Account information
Name, phone number, email address, gender (optional), and profile photo, collected when you sign up or edit your profile. Phone and email are verified with a one-time code sent via SMS or email.
Gifting content you create
Wishlists, wishlist items, occasions, invitations, connections, gift contributions, and gift-related messages you or people you connect with add.
Device & usage data
App/browser type, device model, operating system, approximate location derived from IP (city/region level, not GPS), page views, session length, and referral source — used to keep the app working correctly and understand product usage.
Camera (Android/iOS app only)
Used only to scan an invite QR code. The camera feed is decoded on your device and is never uploaded, recorded, or stored — if you'd rather not grant camera access, you can enter an invite code manually instead.
Push notification token
If you enable notifications, a device token from Google's Firebase Cloud Messaging is stored so we can deliver gift and occasion updates to your device.
Wallet & payment activity
Your UpharSetu wallet balance and transaction history (amount, status, and timestamp of each top-up, gift sent, or gift received). When you add money, your name, email, and phone number are shared with our payment partner, Cashfree, to create the payment order — your card, UPI, or bank details are entered directly on Cashfree's own secure checkout page and never reach our servers.
What your information is used for
- Create and secure your account, and verify it's really you via OTP.
- Show you your wishlists, occasions, connections, and gift activity, and the equivalent content shared with you by people you're connected to.
- Send transactional notifications (e.g. someone gifted you, an occasion is starting) by push, and OTP codes by SMS/email.
- Detect and prevent abuse, fraud, and unauthorized access (e.g. rate-limiting repeated OTP requests).
- Understand aggregate usage so we can fix bugs and improve the product.
Third parties we work with
We don't sell your personal data. We share only what each provider below needs to do its specific job for us.
Firebase / Google
authentication (Google Sign-In, phone/email verification) and push notifications.
2Factor.in
delivering SMS one-time passcodes to Indian phone numbers.
Amazon Simple Email Service (AWS SES)
delivering email one-time passcodes.
Supabase
our database and file storage provider — this is where your account and gifting data actually lives, hosted with encryption at rest and in transit.
Cloudflare
hosting the app and providing approximate, IP-based geographic data for analytics — no GPS location is collected.
Cashfree Payments
processing real payments when you add money to your UpharSetu wallet. We send your name, email, and phone number to create the payment order; your card, UPI, or bank details are entered directly on Cashfree's own hosted checkout and never reach us.
Amazon PA-API, Cuelinks, and individual retailer sites
showing real product results and prices when you browse or search for gift ideas. Clicking a product takes you to that retailer's own site, governed by their own privacy policy — we don't share your account details with them.
Money & the UpharSetu wallet
UpharSetu processes real payments when you add money to your UpharSetu wallet, using Cashfree Payments — an RBI-authorized payment aggregator — as our processor. Your card, UPI, or net banking details are entered directly on Cashfree's own secure, hosted checkout page; we never receive, see, or store them. We do store the resulting wallet balance and a transaction history (amount, status, and timestamp) so you can track your gifting activity. Withdrawals to a bank account are not yet available. Group-gift contributions and monetary gift amounts recorded for coordination between connections are separate from your wallet balance.
Your rights & controls
You control who can see your wishlists and gifts using the visibility settings on each item and occasion (public, connections only, or private).
You can view and edit your profile information at any time from your account settings, and request an export of your data by emailing us below.
You can permanently delete your account and associated data from Profile → Account Settings → Delete Account in the app, or by emailing us. Deletion is irreversible.
Children's privacy
UpharSetu is not directed to, and is not knowingly used by, children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 18. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as UpharSetu evolves. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above; continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
